Empowering Dreams: The IELTS Training Handbook for Persons with Disabilities

By October 14, 2025Pune

Pursuing higher education abroad is a dream shared by many, a dream that begins with clearing the IELTS exam. Recognising that persons with disabilities often face unique challenges in accessing quality training resources, Anjali Vyas, a person living with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS) and Joint Secretary of the MSSI Pune Chapter, has authored an empowering new guide, the IELTS Training Handbook for Persons with Disabilities.

Developed as a Training Project approved by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Government of India, this handbook serves as an inclusive learning resource for both trainers and learners. It is thoughtfully designed to support individuals with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), visual or hearing impairments, locomotor disabilities, and other conditions in effectively preparing for the IELTS examination.

The handbook was unveiled at the Purple Fest in Goa, a national celebration of diversity and inclusion, marking a proud milestone in advancing accessible education for all. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), underscoring the government’s commitment to empowering persons with disabilities through inclusive educational initiatives.

The handbook provides clear explanations, accessible study materials, and practical learning strategies, all tailored to meet diverse needs. More than just a study aid, it represents a step toward inclusive education and equal opportunity, ensuring that every learner, regardless of ability, has the tools and confidence to pursue global academic aspirations.

In bridging the gap between accessibility and quality training, the IELTS Training Handbook stands as a testament to the power of inclusion, perseverance, and knowledge-sharing.
