United by Hope: MSSI Hyderabad Celebrates World MS Day with Heartfelt Tributes and Joyous Moments

On May 24th, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) – Hyderabad Chapter brought together a vibrant community of warriors, caregivers, supporters, and changemakers at City Centre Mall to mark World MS Day in a way that was both touching and empowering.

The evening opened with a warm welcome from Mr. Vasudev Naidu, Hon. Chairperson of the Hyderabad Chapter, setting the tone for what would be a meaningful and memorable event.

One of the most emotional moments of the evening was a heartfelt tribute to the late Mrs. Meena Gupta, a former Chairperson and a guiding light for many. Mrs. Sushma Gudavalli, a key committee member and advocacy leader, spoke movingly about Mrs. Gupta’s lasting legacy, evoking emotions in the audience who knew and loved her.

The program continued with Dr. Reshma Sultana Sheikh, the keynote speaker, who applauded the strong turnout and the chapter’s dedication to raising awareness about MS. In her powerful talk, Dr. Reshma stressed the critical role early diagnosis plays in managing MS and highlighted the first signs and challenges patients often face during diagnosis. Her insights resonated deeply with many in the audience.

Adding a dynamic voice to the event, Dimple, Committee Member and National Youth Wing Leader, spoke about the Youth Wing’s efforts at the national level and how young voices are creating ripples of awareness across India.

A particularly heartwarming segment of the evening was the felicitation of children of individuals with MS. These young achievers were recognised under the Shiksha Scheme, receiving cash awards for their exceptional academic and co-curricular achievements, a moment of pride for families and organisers alike.

Another highlight came when Mr. Avinash Gupta honoured Mrs. Seema Sharma, Hon. Secretary of MSSI Hyderabad, for being named an India MS Person. Her unwavering commitment to the MS community was celebrated with applause and admiration.

The evening also featured light-hearted moments, including a joyful photo session with the MS Heart symbol, a lively musical performance by Mr. Naveen Makhija from Bangalore, and spirited songs by members of the Inner Wheel Club, adding a festive rhythm to the gathering.

Mrs. Vinodini Agarwal, Vice Chairperson, offered a heartfelt thank-you speech, extending gratitude to everyone who made the evening possible. The event concluded with a group photo, a human chain formation, and snacks, leaving everyone with full hearts and smiles.

A special mention goes to Mrs. Mamta Gupta, National Vice President, whose support from Bangalore added immense strength to the event.

The evening’s host, Mrs. Arti Vishal Mital, Jt. Secretary beautifully summed it up:
We will always feel the absence of our beloved late Chairperson, Mrs Meena Gupta, and she will always be remembered with a smile filling our hearts with warmth she held for all of us.
