The Continuing Medical Education (CME) program conducted at Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical Hospital on 27th March 2026, in collaboration with MSSI, was very well organised by the host institution. The session was scheduled in the afternoon from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by snacks sponsored by MSSI.
The Bharati Vidyapeeth campus is vast and well-equipped. The institution generously provided a free auditorium with a well-equipped projector and sound system. The audience comprised medical professionals as well as students from various faculties, including Neurology, Physiotherapy, and Ophthalmology. The total attendance was around 100 participants, including two committee members and three office staff from MSSI.
Dr. Ansari Gupta from Bharati Vidyapeeth welcomed all attendees and invited MSSI representatives to speak about the organisation and its activities. Ms. Jyoti Ronghe, National GC Member, shared her personal journey with Multiple Sclerosis. Our Treasurer, Mrs. Mohana Paranjape, made a presentation highlighting MSSI’s activities and appealed to the medical professionals to refer persons with MS for registration so they can avail the benefits provided by MSSI.
Dr. Gorthi, Head of the Neurology Department, expressed appreciation for the noble work being carried out by MSSI. He delivered a detailed presentation explaining Multiple Sclerosis in medical terms. He also suggested that conditions such as NMO, CNS disorders, MOG, and MOGAD may be considered alongside MS for broader inclusion.
Dr. Sucheta Kulkarni, Head of the Ophthalmology Department, emphasised the importance of ophthalmological symptoms in MS, highlighting that early eye-related signs can aid in timely diagnosis. Dr. Vivek Murumkar from the Radiology Department explained the significance of radiological investigations in diagnosing and managing MS.
Further insights were shared by multidisciplinary experts, including Dr. Jhanavi Atre (Physiotherapist), Dr. Sanjay Dangar (Urologist), and Dr. Appa Saha (Speech Therapist), each explaining the role of their respective specialities in the comprehensive management of MS.
Envelopes containing writing pads with the MSSI logo and pens with printed MSSI logos were distributed to all attendees. All speakers were felicitated with mementoes and thank-you letters as a token of gratitude from MSSI. Bharati Vidyapeeth also felicitated the MSSI members.
During the concluding remarks, Dr Gorthi announced that every Thursday will be observed as “MSSI Day,” a very encouraging outcome of the CME.
Overall, the CME was highly informative, interactive, and strengthened collaboration between Bharati Vidyapeeth and MSSI.
