Empowering Inclusivity: U.S. Consulate & Museum of Possibilities Unite for Climate Change and Disabilities Discussion

In a groundbreaking collaboration, the U.S. Consulate General Chennai partnered with the Museum of Possibilities for a pivotal discussion on “Climate Change Impacts on People with Disabilities” on 29.09.2023. The event featured the esteemed Mr. Jason Strother, a disability rights activist, entrepreneur, Fulbright alumnus, and multimedia journalist, sharing profound insights at the Museum of Possibilities in Chennai. Joined by Ms. Hindumathy from MSSI Chennai Chapter, a medical social worker, and representatives from over 30 organizations, the discussion emphasized the urgent need to address the disproportionate effects of climate change on individuals with disabilities.

The dialogue explored the vulnerabilities of people with disabilities during severe weather emergencies, where the loss of assistive devices and disconnection from support networks are heightened challenges. The session fostered interactive conversations, bringing forth the personal experiences and opinions of individuals with disabilities, underlining the necessity for inclusive solutions.

A significant focus emerged on implementing accessible devices during disasters, aiming to ensure that individuals with disabilities have the essential support and resources during critical times. Let’s continue these vital conversations and collectively work towards a more inclusive and resilient future!

Face to Face Meeting

The Hyderabad Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India came together for a heartwarming face-to-face meeting at Saptaparni Banjara Hills, Hyderabad on 17th September 2023.

Mrs. Meena Gupta, the Hyderabad Chapter Chairperson, set the tone with a warm welcome. Thereafter, laughter echoed as we played Tambola, fostering camaraderie among all. Excitement soared during the lucky dip, where Tambola tickets revealed surprise winners. After that, a spirited game of Pictionary got our minds buzzing with fun and intellectual challenges. Lastly, Mrs. Meena Gupta’s closing speech expressed appreciation and encouraged continued contributions. Our face-to-face meeting was a resounding success, bringing unity, fun, and intellectual engagement to our members. It was a day to cherish, highlighting achievements and recognizing our incredible members’ efforts. Let’s keep this positive momentum going!

Annual Physiotherapy Camp

Celebrating the success of the Annual Physiotherapy Camp organized by MSSI Pune Chapter and Sancheti Hospital on September 10, 2023. Dr. Radha Bhattad underscored the crucial role of physiotherapy in MS management, complemented by inspiring personal narratives from individuals with MS.

Sancheti Hospital’s physiotherapists demonstrated impactful exercises, emphasizing their significance. Insights on environmental adjustments and caregiver well-being enriched the understanding of comprehensive care.

Kavita Bhasein emphasized the transformative impact of physiotherapy on symptom management. Heartfelt appreciation is extended to all contributing physiotherapists.

The day included enjoyable group activities, fostering a sense of community. Special thanks to BNY Mellon volunteers for their dedicated support.

The camp concluded with personalized consultations, ensuring individualized attention. As participants bid farewell at 4 pm, a commitment to holistic well-being in the face of MS resonates.
