On May 30th, 2025, the Chennai Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) hosted an exciting awareness event at Anna Nagar Tower Park to commemorate World MS Day. Centred on the global theme “Navigating MS Together – My MS Diagnosis,” the event sought to highlight the importance of early diagnosis, build a supportive network, and amplify the voices of those living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

A unique collaboration between MSSI Chennai and the TGS Music Show, the evening unfolded as “Speak, Sing, Support“, a blend of heartfelt conversations, shared experiences, and soul-stirring musical performances that brought the community together in solidarity.

Dr. Venkatraman Karthikeyan, a consultant Neurologist at the Kauvery Hospital, Chennai, addressed the audience, stressing the urgent need for timely diagnosis and medical intervention. Mrs. Ann Gonsalves, Hon. Secretary of Chennai Chapter, emphasised the critical role of MSSI in empowering individuals with MS and their caregivers, offering not just medical and financial resources but also in rendering emotional and social support as well.

Live energetic music performance by the TGS Music Show, celebrating courage and community, took the event to another level, keeping the audience entertained and engaged. Pamphlets carrying information regarding MS were distributed to the general public to promote public understanding of MS.

The event marked a significant step towards creating a supportive community for persons with MS in Chennai. MSSI’s Chennai efforts in organising this event demonstrate its commitment to improving the lives of those affected by MS and their families. MSSI Chennai continues to be a beacon of hope and support, championing initiatives that place the voices of people with MS at the centre. Events like this remind us all, when we speak up, sing together, and support one another, we make the journey easier for everyone impacted by MS.
