The MSSI Chennai Chapter hosted its much-awaited Annual Family Picnic on October 5, 2025, at the picturesque Ideal Beach Resort in Mahabalipuram. The event, themed “Celebrating Caregivers,” marked Caregiver Month 2025 and honoured those who care and support people with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS).
A joyful day by the sea was shared by 115 participants, including people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS), caregivers, and volunteers. BNY volunteers played a vital role, assisting members and ensuring smooth coordination throughout the day.
The picnic began with a scenic coastal bus ride, filled with laughter and anticipation. Upon arrival, participants were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Ann Gonsalves, Hon. Secretary of MSSI Chennai Chapter.
The morning was filled with fun-filled games, including “Putting the Ball in the Bucket,” which engaged everyone from children to caregivers and people with disabilities. These games created moments of shared joy and camaraderie.
A sumptuous buffet lunch followed, offering a delightful variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The combination of delicious food, laughter, and the soothing sound of waves created a perfect afternoon retreat.
After lunch, members relaxed by the sun-kissed beach. Some splashed in the sea, while others strolled along the shore. Many lounged on chairs and hammocks, enjoying the serenity and sunshine. Later, everyone reassembled for a round of Tambola and quiz games, adding fun and friendly competition to the day.
A touching highlight was the “Caregiver Recognition Award”, honouring parents, spouses, siblings, and family members for their love, dedication, and steadfast support. This moment captured the true essence of the event – caregiving is both a responsibility and a celebration of compassion. The celebrations also included cake cutting and birthday wishes for two PwMS members, adding warmth and cheer.
As the sunset, the group gathered for a final photo session, capturing memories of smiles, laughter, and gratitude. The picnic concluded as a perfect blend of fun, bonding, and appreciation, leaving participants with lasting memories.
