IMSD : MS Awareness Session on New Treatments & High Efficacy Therapies

MSSI Indore Chapter celebrated India MS Day on February 25th, SUNDAY at the GSITS Auditorium, Vallabh Nagar, Indore, from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM by organizing an MS Awareness Session on New Treatments & High Efficacy Therapies, and a musical night.

Over 150 individuals, including 50+ persons with MS and their caregivers, joined for an evening filled with inspiration and camaraderie. The event kicked off with the warm glow of the lamp, symbolizing hope and unity.

Renowned Neurologist, Dr. Aproov Pauranik, graced the audience with his insights into the world of Multiple Sclerosis, shedding light on New Treatments and High Efficacy Therapies. His talk provided valuable knowledge and empowerment to the community.

Sanket Mestry, Chairperson of MSSI Indore Chapter, drew attention to the theme of IMSD 2024 – #InsureMyMS, emphasizing the importance of having insurance for PwMS.

The night then blossomed into a musical extravaganza with 10 talented singers, including Sanaya, winner of Indore Idol 2023, presenting a repertoire of 20 soulful Hindi songs.

The grand finale featured a heartwarming vote of thanks delivered by the youngest star of the evening, 12-year-old Tiara Sanket Mestry, wrapping up the event on a high note of gratitude and unity.

Awareness Session at Department of Social Work, University Post Graduate College, Secunderabad

MSSI, Hyderabad Chapter had an impactful session at the Department of Social Work, University Post Graduate College, Secunderabad, on Feb 15th.

In line with India MS Day celebrations, the faculty discovered MSSI through the inspiring book “Unbreakable Spirit” by Ms. Farida Raj (Committee Member, MSSI Hyderabad Chapter). Dr. Shanker from the Department of Social Work reached out to Chairperson Ms. Meena Gupta, and an enlightening awareness program was organized.

Ms. Seema Sharma, Secretary Hyderabad Chapter, captivated the 1st-year Masters in Social Work students with a comprehensive PPT, covering the inception of MSSI Hyderabad, MS awareness, services, advocacy, and more. The main goal was to create awareness about MS among young adults.

The engaging session concluded with a Q/A, where Ms. Arti Mittal, Jt Secretary, and Ms. Dimple, Committee Member and Youth Wing Leader, clarified doubts and shared insights. Cheers to MSSI, Hyderabad Chapter, for fostering awareness and empowering the next generation!

MS Walkathon

MSSI Thiruvananthapuram hosted an empowering MS Walk from Manaveeyam Veedhi to the Museum on Feb 11, 2024. Over 50 people with MS and caregivers walked together to spread awareness about Multiple Sclerosis.

The event was graced by Dr. Sruthi from SCTIMST, who shared insights into new treatments for PwMS, while Dr. Jayachandran, a Social Worker discussed coping with MS through lifestyle modifications at the disabled-friendly sensory park in the Trivandrum Museum Campus.

Interactive Session with Eminent Neurologists

On Feb 8, 2024, MSSI Kolkata Chapter delved into an enriching interactive session with eminent neurologists from BIN, IPGME & R-SSKM, Kolkata – Prof. Bimal Kanti Ray, Prof. Alak Pandit, and Dr. Souvik Dubey.

PwMS and their caregivers made it a vibrant space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences.

In a remarkable Outreach Program: Continual Medical Education, six eminent neurologists shed light on MS, expanding the knowledge of around 100 General Physicians. Ms. Asha Merchant, Hon. Secretary, MSSI Pune, highlighted the invaluable work of MSSI, while Mrs. Jyoti Rhonge, G.C. Member, Pune Chapter, shared her personal journey as an MS warrior.

Launch of Unbreakable Spirit on IMSD

A Milestone Celebration! MSSI, Hyderabad Chapter marked India MS Day on Feb 4 with the launch of “UNBREAKABLE SPIRIT” by Ms. Farida Raj, a Remedial Educator and Executive Committee Member. This groundbreaking book, the first-ever authored by a non-MS professional, aims to create awareness about MS and inspire resilience.

The book sheds light on the importance of timely diagnosis, treatment, and support for leading active and healthy lives. It stands as a beacon of hope, fostering understanding and building empathetic networks beyond the confines of the condition.

An insightful session led by Ms. Meena Gupta, Chairperson MSSI Hyderabad, Ms. Farida Raj, and Dr. Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist at Apollo Hospital, preceded the launch. Ms. Gupta highlighted the #InsureMyMS campaign, seeking support for MS patients in obtaining disability certificates effortlessly.
