An MSSI Chennai Chapter Event in Collaboration with Yogavahini Foundation and Kauvery Hospital

To mark World MS Day 2025, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) – Chennai Chapter, in partnership with Yogavahini Foundation and Kauvery Hospital, hosted a powerful and insightful event on Sunday, May 11th, titled “Yoga Therapy for MS.”

The session opened with a warm welcome by Mrs. Chitra Ramachandran, Committee Member, MSSI Chennai, who introduced the esteemed panel of Kauvery Hospital Neurologists and Yoga Therapists. Mrs. Ann Gonsalves highlighted MSSI’s mission and efforts in supporting persons with MS.

The audience benefited from enriching talks by a distinguished panel of neurologists – Dr. Venkatraman Karthikeyan, Prof. Dr. Subramaniyan K, Dr. Swathi T, Dr. V. Balambighai, and Dr. Lakshmanan – who shared valuable insights on Multiple Sclerosis, diagnosis, treatment options, and life beyond medication through rehabilitation and wellness strategies.

The highlight of the event was a hands-on Yoga Therapy session led by Mrs. Saraswathi Vasudevan and Mrs. Jyothi Shanbhag from Yogavahini Foundation. Participants explored gentle, mindful yoga practices designed specifically for neurological health, empowering them to manage MS symptoms and nurture well-being.

This initiative aimed to promote holistic approaches to managing MS and improve the quality of life for individuals with the condition. It provided a platform for MS persons to connect with experts, learn new coping strategies and find support.
