The Chennai Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) and “The Box Office,” the students’ cultural group of Madras Institute of Technology, joined forces to raise awareness about Multiple Sclerosis (MS) through a skit performance at Chennai International Airport on May 28, 2025. The event was part of the World MS Day program, aiming to educate passengers about MS, a rare neurodegenerative autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, disrupting daily activities and quality of life.

Two impactful skits were performed to engage the public:

  1. English Skit: Presented at the Domestic Arrival lounge, this skit depicted the challenges faced by individuals diagnosed with MS, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.
  2. Tamil Skit: Performed at the Domestic Departure terminal, this skit resonated with the local audience, emphasising the need for support systems and awareness about MS.

In addition to the skits, approximately 250 leaflets were distributed to passengers and visitors at the airport. These leaflets provided information about MS, including symptoms, diagnosis, and management, aiming to reduce stigma and promote inclusiveness for those affected by the disease.

Chennai International Airport’s initiative was part of a broader effort to commemorate World MS Day, celebrated annually on May 30th. The event emphasised the importance of collective efforts in educating the public and creating an inclusive society for individuals living with MS and their families.
