As advances in medicine and technology continue to reshape neurological care, creating greater awareness and understanding of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) remains essential. Reflecting this commitment, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI), Chennai Chapter, in association with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Chennai South, organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on 31st May 2026 at the Alumni Club, Chennai. Held in conjunction with World MS Day 2026 and aligned with the global theme “Navigating MS Together,” the programme formed part of the AI in Healthcare Conference – 141st North Zone, Private Hospitals and Nursing Home Board Meet, providing a valuable platform for healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge and strengthen awareness of Multiple Sclerosis.
The highlight of the programme was an insightful presentation by Dr. Deepak Arjundas, Consultant Neurologist and Neuro Intensivist, who shared recent advances in the diagnosis and management of MS. His presentation explored the emerging role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in improving diagnostic accuracy, MRI interpretation, predictive analytics, and personalised treatment strategies. He also highlighted the growing importance of neuroimaging, biomarkers, and preventive healthcare, including vaccination, in supporting better outcomes for persons living with MS.
A particularly impactful segment of the programme featured four Persons with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS) from MSSI Chennai Chapter who shared their lived experiences. They spoke candidly about their diagnosis, treatment journeys, daily challenges, and the resilience that enables them to lead meaningful lives despite the condition. Their inspiring stories deeply resonated with the audience, and the attending doctors expressed admiration for their determination and positive spirit.
The programme concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session that fostered meaningful dialogue between the medical fraternity and the MS community, followed by a high tea and networking session. Through this initiative, MSSI Chennai Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to promoting awareness, education, and collaborative support for persons living with Multiple Sclerosis.
