The Annual General Meeting of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI), Chennai Chapter, was held online via Zoom on Saturday, 22 August 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with approximately 40 members in attendance.
The meeting commenced with a welcome address by Mrs. Ann Gonsalvez, Honorary Secretary. The minutes of the previous AGM held on 26 July 2025 were proposed by Mr. Ashokan, seconded by Mr. D. Sivakumar, and approved by the members.
Mrs. Meenakshi Nandakumar presented the Annual Report for 2025–2026 through a PowerPoint presentation, highlighting the Chapter’s medical reimbursements, physiotherapy, psychotherapy, rehabilitation and mobility aids, Brain Lab therapy, yoga and meditation programmes, patient welfare, awareness initiatives and member engagement activities. The report was proposed by Mrs. Sujatha Karthik, seconded by Mrs. Archana Ganesan, and taken on record.
Mr. Ashokan, Honorary Chairperson, presented the Balance Sheet and Accounts for 2025–2026, covering income, donations and expenditure towards patient welfare and administration. The Accounts were proposed by Mrs. Meenakshi Nandakumar, seconded by Mrs. Maheshwari, and approved by the members.
Members were briefed about the forthcoming All India MSSI AGM in Pune on 29–30 August 2026. Mr. D. Sivakumar, Mrs. Chitra Ramachandran and Mrs. Meenakshi Nandakumar will represent the Chennai Chapter.
Ms. Smitha Sadasivan updated members on Mrs. Meenakshi Nandakumar’s invitation to the MSIF Annual Meetings in London from 6–8 October 2026. Ms. Smitha Sadasivan will also attend following her selection by MSSI Head Office. She also shared her invitation to an MSIF Brain Health virtual discussion on 30 September 2026.
Mrs. Chitra Ramachandran provided an update on Coimbatore outreach. Mr. Gurumoorthy, Regional Coordinator, continues to engage with patients and healthcare professionals and has assisted one patient in obtaining a Disability Card.
