MSSI Youth Wing Hosts Online Zine-Making Workshop Ahead of World MS Day 2025
As a vibrant lead-up to World MS Day 2025, the MSSI National Youth Wing hosted a unique and engaging interactive online Zine-Making Workshop, aligned with this year’s theme – My MS Diagnosis: Navigating MS Together.
Zines – short for “magazines” – are powerful mini-publications that blend creativity and storytelling. They offer a bold and expressive medium for individuals to share personal narratives, explore emotions and raise awareness through a combination of art and words.
This workshop created a welcoming and reflective space for people living with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS) and caregivers to visually document their diagnosis journeys. Participants were encouraged to express their thoughts and emotions through illustrations, collages, handwritten notes, poetry and more, resulting in powerful visual narratives that shed light on the invisible and emotional aspects of life with MS.
A heartfelt “Thank you” to Ms. Aarti Batra, our inspiring facilitator, for guiding the session with compassion and creativity. A PhD scholar at Delhi University, Aarti lives with Thalassemia and works with the United Nations in Delhi. Her own journey and lived experience brought deep empathy and insight, making the session both empowering and therapeutic for all involved.
Workshops like these highlight the importance of creative self-expression as a tool for healing, advocacy, and connection, especially in communities navigating chronic illness. As we move closer to World MS Day 2025, we carry forward these stories that help us all understand and support each other better.
See some of the incredible zines created during this session – a testament to the courage and creativity of our MS community.
