New Dedicated Multiple Sclerosis Clinic Launched in Gurugram: A Significant Step Towards Better MS Care

By May 30, 2026July 18th, 2026Delhi

On the occasion of World Multiple Sclerosis Day, Marengo Asia Hospitals, Gurugram, marked a significant milestone in neurological healthcare by launching a dedicated Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Clinic. The initiative is aimed at improving early diagnosis, providing specialised multidisciplinary care, and enhancing the quality of life for people living with Multiple Sclerosis.

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the central nervous system, affecting the brain and spinal cord. The condition can lead to a wide range of symptoms, including fatigue, impaired mobility, vision problems, muscle weakness, and disability. Although more than 200,000 people in India are estimated to be living with MS, awareness of the disease and access to specialised care remain limited.

Early Diagnosis Makes a Difference

Speaking at the launch, Dr Praveen Gupta, Chairman of Marengo Asia International Institute of Neuro and Spine, emphasised that early diagnosis and timely treatment play a critical role in improving patient outcomes.

“Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic neurological condition that can progressively damage the nervous system. However, with early intervention and appropriate treatment, patients can maintain a significantly better quality of life,” he said.

Dr. Gupta also highlighted the indispensable role of physiotherapy and neuro-rehabilitation in managing MS. Since the disease can affect movement, balance, and muscle strength, long-term rehabilitation helps patients regain function, improve mobility, and maintain independence.

“Physiotherapy helps retrain the brain and nervous system. It is one of the most important components of recovery—not only for MS but also for stroke, spinal disorders, nerve injuries, and other neurological conditions,” he explained.

Bringing Comprehensive MS Care Under One Roof

The newly launched clinic is designed to provide comprehensive, patient-centric care through a multidisciplinary approach. Patients will have access to specialised neurological consultations, diagnostic investigations, MRI services, blood tests, physiotherapy, and neuro-rehabilitation—all at a single location.

The dedicated OPD will be held every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., ensuring that people living with MS have regular access to specialists familiar with the complexities of the disease.

Expanding Access Beyond Metropolitan Cities

Harpreet Singh, Vice President and Facility Director at Marengo Asia Hospital, Gurugram, shared the hospital’s broader vision of making specialised neurological care accessible beyond major metropolitan centres.

He explained that Marengo Asia Hospitals currently operates eight hospitals across India and one in Saudi Arabia, with a commitment to extending advanced neurological services to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Through outreach initiatives, specialists from Marengo regularly visit centres including Bhuj, Varanasi, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for expert care.

According to him, the new MS Clinic in Gurugram is among the few dedicated MS centres in the Delhi-NCR region and is expected to significantly improve access to specialised care.

Addressing the Challenges Faced by People Living with MS

Representing the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI), Delhi Chapter, Bipasha Gupta welcomed the initiative, highlighting the everyday challenges experienced by people living with Multiple Sclerosis.

She pointed out that patients often have to visit multiple healthcare facilities for consultations, diagnostic tests, MRI scans, and rehabilitation services. Long waiting hours in crowded hospitals can be particularly exhausting, as fatigue is one of the most common and debilitating symptoms of MS.

“This dedicated clinic allows patients to access consultations, investigations, MRI, and other essential services under one roof. It reduces both the physical and emotional burden on people living with MS,” she said.

Bipasha Gupta stressed that early diagnosis remains one of the strongest tools in slowing disease progression. When treatment begins at an early stage, the disease is often far more manageable, helping individuals maintain their independence and quality of life for longer.

She also expressed hope that more hospitals across India would establish similar dedicated MS clinics, noting that specialised centres remain limited, particularly in North India.

A Positive Step Forward

The launch of the dedicated Multiple Sclerosis Clinic in Gurugram represents an important advancement in improving access to specialised MS care. By bringing together neurologists, rehabilitation experts, diagnostic facilities, and patient support services, the clinic aims to make comprehensive care more accessible while raising awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and timely intervention.

As awareness of Multiple Sclerosis continues to grow, collaborations between healthcare providers and organisations such as the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India will play a vital role in ensuring that every person living with MS receives the care, support, and dignity they deserve.

Together, initiatives like these bring renewed hope for a future where specialised MS care is accessible, timely, and available closer to home.
