World MS Day – Delhi

MSSI Delhi celebrated World MS Day with a great aplomb on Sunday, May 12th at the accessible venue of Panchshila Club. Over 106 people attended the function and all of them had a lot of fun meeting and spending time with each other.

We began the program with a welcome address by our chairperson Bipasha Gupta, followed by an introduction by Meenakshi Bhujwala of our chief guest Dr. Nitin Sethi, a neurologist from PSRI. Dr. Nitin Sethi, earlier from USA, is the Chairman,- Neuro department of PSRI Hospital, Delhi, and is the son of a very senior Neurologist, Padma Shri Dr. (COL) P.K. Sethi, VSM Chairman, the Department of Neurology Sir Gangaram Hospital New Delhi.

Prabal Malakar spoke about the importance of world MSDay and how it is being celebrated all over the world. He invited our chief guest to release our latest journal. It is always welcomed by all our patients and doctors because it is full of information and stories about our organization and it keeps everyone updated about us.

Then began with the most important aspect of the day a talk by Dr. Nitin Sethi. He was a very interesting speaker and spoke a lot about the main subject MS. Diagnosis. He spoke in simple terms and covered a wide range of topics. Everybody was mesmerized by his talk. He also updated and compared the treatment of MS in the US and India and the price factor. He explained the difference between Rituximab and Ocrevus treatment and the reason behind the huge price difference.

After this we had the rounds of awards to our various friends and well-wishers Young Suhana Rohatgi was given the award for the best all-rounder among our scholarship students. Our star Medical Scholarship Student Jaya was also felicitated.

The Compassionate Physiotherapist Award went to Dr. Sachin, our very popular physiotherapist. Shalini Monga won the award for the most outstanding volunteer. Our advocate Yadavendra Saxena was specially honored by us for his selfless service towards our PMS’S. Tapasya Gulati was honoured for her advocacy and for receiving a government award for her work and for having won in the Mrs. India contest.

Rekha Samuel then entertained the invitees with her beautiful melodious songs and her ability to keep everybody entranced by the music.

We also held a WMSD photo shoot with PwMS and volunteers for SM and the website.

The sumptuous tea was welcomed by all, and the invitees had a great time sitting and talking to each other and introducing themselves or catching up with each other.

It was a great evening and many of our PwMS’s wanted to know as to when we were going to hold the next session so that we could all gather together and spend a great evening like this special day.
